1911 Officer 80% frames available on Gunbroker

Not sure if this is accepted as appropriate, but I’ve been looking for an Officer frame to do a future build. There are some on Gunbroker right now being marketed as Wilson Combat frames (has bulletproof ejector cut). Prices look to me like a great deal. Not sure why carbon steel would be more than stainless, but whatever. $9.95 shipping. I’m not affiliated with this seller other than being a very recent customer. :innocent:

Spectre is a solid seller, bought a lot of different items from them over the last couple years.
Several frames this year just to stock up, built on 2 of them.
Never any issues and frames were perfect, except overly large bevel at the bowtie last CS frame.

Is perfectly appropriate. You posted it on the right section.

I didn’t know how kosher it was to post gunbroker deals here. The officer frames are fairly difficult to locate these days, especially at this price. I wanted to share the info in case anyone else was looking for one of these frames is all. Thanks for the confirmation.

I think we will be seeing some good deals, sellers are probably worried with getting stuck with a bunch of non serilized FFL items if Biden gets his way. Hole in that logic is AR Receiver blanks. Prices going up. Must not be much inventory laying around.

Received my frames today. They look good! I couldn’t tell the difference between the carbon and the stainless by looking at them and was about to message the seller to ask how to tell the difference until I found the C and S stamped inside the backstrap areas.

You can still verify the material by using a bit of cold blue.

I believe I remember reading someone’s post in a different forum about a frame that was mislabeled.

They appear to have a beautiful undercut at the top of the front strap. Should be really comfy

So far the C and S have been correct for me, the C frame cuts nicely and parkerized, the couple S frames burned up HSS cutters ( if not really careful…)
With the undercut and square full notch out for the slide stop, may be able to match up with a manufacturer.
I guess I should get one now for the shelf of future builds, look too good to pass up. How about a photo of the bowtie area?

Is there a go to or preferred magazine for the officer model? I’ve been looking at the Kimber 7 round flush fit mags, but what is the opinion of others that have/had one of these already? Any I should definitely consider or definitely stay away from?

Thanks for the photos, bowtie looks good. Now I definitely am getting one.
I would use a quality full sized magazine that you know works good to test, and +1 on the Kimber shorty.
I’ve been carrying an original ultra carry since before Kimbers were popular, and the original mags are still 100% reliable.
Maybe time to replace the springs!

I use Wilson officer size mags in my pistols. They make a 7 shot w/a bumper pad and a 8 shot w/a welded stop so it won’t over insert.

@Mosinvirus Good trick with the cold blue.
@Preyhunter looking closer at the photo it appears the VIS is overbored. Hard to say how much from the photo, maybe optical illusion.
Ill know in a couple days anyway! (I’ll probably be cutting mine for C/P/L anyway)

Got my frame today.
VIS way over bored used a drill tip instead of a end mill. Definitely need to cut for a ramped barrel.
Also, ejector cut not 1911 cut. One big slot not 2 hole. Any one recognize the make?

I believe that ejector cut is for either a Wilson Combat or EGW ejector with one huge foot on it. Bulletproof WC maybe.

Looks like it.

That VIS cut is probably why it ended up on Gun Broken

That’s exactly what it is. These are supposed to be WC frames, according to the listing.

I’ll be watching this thread. Been debay on building one my self but everything will have to be by hand as I don’t own a milling machine.
