Ahh the same story NRA is evil, if only we can close this one loophole, cue the blood and gore person crying. Show b-roll of lawful gun use while talking about horrific crimes then blame the evil NRA for trying to stop them.

this seems bogus to me as I have met people that could not own or buy guns because they had been accused of domestic violence (not even convicted of it, just accused in court).

That is the critical absence in this evaluation, lack of due process. Without having a more useful charge and opportunity to defend it, the legal environment is woefully inadequate in citizenship.
