Ammo Prices & Availability: That didn't take long

From the article:

How idiotic can a person be? Preppers bought their ammo, months or years ago. They may already have more ammo (in the main calibers they use) than the store does.

It is never a good time to sell. I don’t believe in selling guns, just buying them

Last time I bought a gun, was when I made my first trip to Rural King and came home with a .22 revolver. After finishing up the government paperwork, the lady working the counter asked me if I needed any .22 ammo. I replied that I had plenty at home. She responded with something along the lines of “you can never have enough .22 ammo”. I paused briefly to think, then said I thought I had about 4,000 rounds of .22, at home. She changed her tone a bit, and replied that maybe I did have enough .22 ammo.

Not long after that, I was trying to get the ammo cans with the .22 better organized, and decided that my 4,000 round estimate was low. More recently, I was trying to get my reloading dies organized, to figure out how many adapter kits I need for the newest press, and stumbled across a couple more boxes of .22 ammo.

Before Sandy Hook, I tried to keep around 3,000 rounds of .22 on hand, because it’s so easy to burn through .22 ammo if you spend an afternoon plinking with a semi-auto, or practice by using a .22 conversion. I may have overdone the restocking, when .22 became easy to find and the prices eventually dropped.

Friends and I would burn through a 500 round brick in an afternoon.
It is easy if 4 or 5 people are taking turns with a Henry rifle.

Son went out to get some 9mm and all the area stores were out of that and 223/556.

Anyone with 2 or more bulk packs probably has more than the average store right now.

I remember the last time there was a run on ammo, the 9mm and 223 went first, same as now.

But I was always able to find 40 S&W somehow or another. So, I always keep a pistol in that chamber around.

I’m bummed though, because I just bought a 43X a few weeks ago and was planning on ordering a couple thousand 9mm to run through it. Guess I’ll have to wait a month or two.

I did find a good deal on 308 FGMM lately. Ordered it. We’ll see if it actually comes though.
