FYI, a ā€œfat 50ā€ ammo can holds 18 30-round steel magazines, or 540 7.62 X 39 rounds ready for ā€œfirst contact.ā€

Good info. I have a gunsmith tool box that came with the wrests to put a gun on. If I remove the tray it comes with, the box will hold 78 full 30 round mags of .223 That comes out to 85 pounds, or 2340 rounds

The only ammo I store for SHTF are 22LR, 5.56 and 9mm

Thatā€™s prejudiced against shotguns! I hereby sentence you to sensitivity training. :sunglasses:

Pretty much same here but would come out swinging with 7.62x39 since thatā€™s what Iā€™m set up for (PWS) BUT, instead of humping two different rifle rounds AND a pistol round,Iā€™ve been thinking of getting an upper chambered in .223. Iā€™m just not sure (God forbid) how long I could be on the run with a shit load of ammo and Iā€™m pretty damn sure thereā€™s going to be check points set up on the highways.

I pretty sure that will mean some more guns and ammo for us. LOL

Primarily I would carry 5.56 and 45acp but I would have an assortment of a small quantities of 7.62,9mm .38 , ext. To feed a wider variety of weapons that I could come across.

While not as deeply stocked as some of you. A couple K each of assorted 5.56, .45acp and 9mm. Ample .308 both loaded and components.
And enough brass, lead, primers, 2400 and Unique to keep three .44 Mag barrels warm for a long, long time.

Amen brother. Federal has great rebates right now. I recently scored some Lake City 5.56 for $0.25/round and Blazer Brass 9mm for $0.14/round from PSAā€¦with free shipping. If the price is right, just buy it! Youā€™ll be glad during the next panic shortage (2020 elections perhaps).

Been getting high on my prepper supply lately. These numbers used to be much higher.

A 2020, shortage on ammo slipped my mind, I was thinking about buying whatever rifle may become unobtainable.

We do not stockpile ammo, it degrades. I have 5k rim fire ammo. 500rds 30-06, the rest is in the 100s.
Now reloading suppliesā€¦ 100 pounds of various powders 15,00 primers. Just 30-06 12,000 Lake City virgin standard cases and 2000 match. I have 500 OO buck, and do not have a shotgun.
