We probably have a decade before the military has full scale weaponized AI.

You can bet that the military complex is way ahead of what we’re hearing in the general public…

All this talk about AI, has anyone seen the movie “ Extinction” that just came out on Netflix? I thought it was pretty good.

Anyway, I’ve read articles that say AI could take over doctors’, lawyers’, accountants’ and engineers’ jobs sometime in the future. So it’s not just automation taking over factory production but also other professional careers. I’m guessing if that happens, the technology may still be decades away, but I’m sure it’ll be a big game changer for our future workforce. Makes me wonder what existing and new professions will be available for our kids and grandkids.

Mister_Torgue, et al:

I spent my career in IT and can tell you that the data (and for that matter, metadata), that companies have on people is quite a bit. They (in particular, the banks) can see (at least some of) your finances, your spending habits, and other personal information.

The government finds ways to see even more.

Now with tools like armed drones, the government can eliminate targets at distances where the targets may not even see them coming.

This is not just in the future, it is now.

Regarding AI powered attacks, the technology is already there. It is just a matter of whether and when the government chooses to use it and on what scale.

So, we are not “too late” in this evolution, but giving too much power to the government will help seal our fate as helpless sheep, only to be slaughtered whenever the government and/or (just) its machines, decide to do so.

The turning point could be as soon as just after the next presidential election if things go badly.

How can you tell if a poster is a bot?

Usually posts or replies that don’t make sense,

today I thought the combo of

first post

image

and ignoring the bright red post saying

image

combined with a PM saying the same

and finally, not being answered before this was posted

image

had me convinced it was time to can the bot,

but as it were I got a PM reply and had crow instead of Bot, it was bound to happen

I just hope those sand people don’t get to upset,

they came from a galaxy far far away to buy my scrap

Thank You very much. I’m not great about navigating around forums but I think this is the best one there is. It is very user friendly to someone new to forums and the people here are very quick to offer help and information . Y’all are awesome and I’m glad to participate.
