Brief History of .308 Win

The 223 poodle shooters are fun to fire and more economical, but for a SHTF rifle the AR10 platform is boss.

I still prefer 5.56 , especially for shtf, ymmv.
.308 is a neat round though.

I agree with this part though. I am also part of the AR master race. Although , unless your AR10 is made by Armalite it should be called a .308 AR. The .308AR guys are pretty big on this.

7.62 X 51 everyday all day for me.
Not a single modern military round I would trade it for.
5.56, 7.62 X 39, are the teenagers on the block.
7.62 X 51 is the Grown Ups Round.
30-06 is Grandpas.

Kind of but not really, the 5.56 and x39 are intermediate calibers vs the full powered .308. Different tools really. The 6.5 Creedmoor is slowly overthrowing the .308 just like the 6.8 is overthrowing the 5.56.

Creedmoor is a fad.
It will die out just like the 10mm and 40 is now.
308 stands the test of time.

more like 5.56 being the baby brother and 7.62x39 the retarded foreign cousin with his midget brother the 5.45x39

Dont think so, precision shooters like the round and even the military is looking into it for precision work. Its gaining ground fast, for precision work it beats the .308 in every category but price and barrel life.

I love the Creedmore round. I think it will be around a while like the Grendel. the 224 , maybe not.

The Grendel is not in use with our military or with as many precision shooters. The Creedmoor is more then a fad. The Grendel is probably the most underated round there is, imo.

The 6.5 Creedmoor is gaining momentum.

Love the .308 Win.

Really love the .260 Rem (6.5mm - .308). Just the ticket for whitetails.

I thought about getting a .260 for my next deer rifle. Either that or a .243 , getting bored with the .308, tbh.

Latest and greatest don’t sell here.

Newest round in the group? 5.56

I’d rather have 5-10 more cases of .308 then a new weapon/caliber.

When ammo for the Creedmoor becomes as varied, cheap, and available as the 308 win I will switch. Comparing it to 5.56 is erroneous, two different purposes with both having advantages. My “get me home” gun is a 5.56, when I get home it’s 308 all day long.
