Bullet vs Steel Plate

A 160 grain bullet cast from range lead & fired from a 357 magnum at approximately 1250 fps. The 3 bullets contacted a harden steel plate a 50 yards.

Must have been pretty straight on as they’re very symmetrical looking :mag:

I try to keep the plate square to the shooting point. The plate does however swing but that seems to make little difference.

Pumpem up to 1450fps and see what happens.
We did some 1530fps ones, they spattered.

Those would make good wound channel.

What was the approximate brinell hardness of those slugs ? 15 ,18 ?

Wheel weight cast is right around 18-22 Bhn when water dropped.
10-12Bhn when air cooled.

These were no more than 12BHN.
