Citizen Militia instead of Govt Military

Oh don’t get me wrong, I would NEVER actually vote for him for the very same reasons you highlighted. All I am saying is that he has some good points. The world isn’t all black and white, and nobody’s perfect. The Pauls come close, but they too are far from perfect. Sanders would make an excellent secretary of labor or something like that though. I do not hide that I tend to think along Democratic party lines where it comes to economic issues. I’m left of center economically and oppose our sweat shop style economy. Sure, I’m a capitalist and believe in a market economy. A well-regulated economy that is. I believe in economic fairness. I’m upper middle class white collar myself, but I’m very solidary with with blue collar working class folks. I’m in favour of better employee rights for everybody. It’s the excesses of capitalism, the extreme greed and slave holdership that I oppose. So yes, economically I am mostly Democratic although I identify as an Independent. I just look at the issues.

That’s my point. I don’t want any foreign relations or involvement (other than being on excellent terms with Russia and Israel). So hence no need for a military. Armed Forces serve only imperialist motives. Jeferson agrees.

That is definitely food for thought.

Anyone under the age of 35 has no business in any Militia (or the military for that matter). War /combat is an old man’s game.

So you’re in favour of wasting many, many billions on coercion politics, big brother, subsidizing the MIC and you actually getting Jack Sh*t for your tax dollars instead of getting an actually excellent educaton + health care? (because that’s what Bernie stands for). Duly noted.
I respect your opinion and freedom of speech though, so no pun intended at all. Have a good one!

Nothing worth taking? What about their lives?..

interesting that in the USofA a militia is a rabble with guns but pretty well every where else a militia is a volunteer military group in support of their country.

No large groups for me four or five people that can work together is what I think would work.

Let’s just hope for the integrity of free citizens everywhere that when the chips are down that all true American patriots can put aside our differences to unite against a common enemy foreign or domestic. That is the true American spirit weather people still think that way or not.

Just because we only place one response doesn’t mean we’re not paying attention.

When you have to shoot, shoot. Don’t talk.

Keep in mind this is just a discussion. At the end of the day, our common ground is love of country. Who leads it is up to the ballot box.

Currently, we have nothing urgent pressing upon us as potential militia members.

If/when the time comes that SHTF for real, I am sure there will be a better focus amongst us all as to what to do and what direction(s) to take in saving our country(s).

From Army.mil

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

I’m sure there are plenty of honorable service members that believe in the importance of the military. We have plenty of reasons to be fighting terrorism wherever it is. It’s not about foreign politics, or posturing. It’s about helping people, whether it be aid and support after an earth quake, or removing a country’s capacity to use chemical weapons on it’s citizens.

So 7 people, in their own homes/comfort zones, seemingly can not work together through a thread, you think you can pull together an A Team?

Spot on sir

Really? Im pretty sure I saw many of his speeches where he stated Hilary would destroy the Country… then when he saw his political party was in trouble… he endorced her. IDK about you… but I would not believe a word out of that old Cook’s mouth. He did whatever was right for himself at the time. Its funny how lieing under oath is illegal. Lieing when you are trying for running the entire freaking country is just politics.

I will answer the what does our tax dollars get us question, and while not a perfect system our tax dollars get most of us nice roads to drive on, fire departments, police departments, public parks . Athletic fields to teach youth sports. Hiking trails, some outdoor firing ranges, hunter safety courses, libraries. To some extent an opportunity to get a basic level of education. While it would be great for the private sector to provide all these things and it would also be great if govt. was more efficient. Most of the rich folks aren’t going to build a football/baseball/soccer field or public library for the poor folks on the other side of town but by mostly local govt. doing such things all the kids interacting with each other on the fields and having access to knowledge is part of what makes USA great. I’ll get off my high horse now . ( and the public riding trails paid for with tax dollars in the national forest ) . I’m also definitely not a Bernie fan .

I don’t want everything to be “free” but I am willing to pay something for roads to drive across the country on and k-12 schools so the children with sorry or absent or not in the picture for whatever reason parents can have a chance at a decent start in life. I coached youth sports for several years and if were left solely to the parents some of the children wouldn’t ever see a book or a school.

bump… but before I start the discussion back up I just wanted to point out I never really realised just how full of shit Minuteman was and how right of a place France is for him. His admiration for Bernie Sanders is just one of many things that lead me to believe he was a closet case socialist. Bernie Sanders and his commie buddy AOC are both backers of the democratic-socialist party which is just the first stage of an American communist party, period. Having said that this thread is on an interesting topic so I am bumping it.

MM obviously did not realize that militias acted as emergency services in the past. Take for instance in early modern Germany the Town militia served as nightwatch(police), fire fighters, and various other tasks including helping deal with natural disasters. The firefighting bit is especially cool, they would use poleaxes to breakdown burning buildings and smother them.

The only reason militias sort of fell apart in Germany is due to the fact that a standing army does military campaigns and what not better, it’s a proven fact civilian militias kept tyrants at bay and acted successfully as emergency services though.

One of my sources for this is “Martial Ethic in Early Modern Germany” by B.A. Tusley

I will post some more info on it later.

In modern times it could work though if the gov used some of our taxes on equipment and provided some basic training resources instead of spending billions on welfare and wars. We don’t need them for this role, many rural towns are all volunteer services anyhow.
