Dot sights for rifles

I’m wondering why I’m seeing a more common trend of the smaller. Sights that are about a 20 mm viewing window. Wouldn’t that hurt your field of view? I’m thinking about getting the hollow sun 402c because of the bigger view window but it’s almost a size of a tin can on top of my rifles. Should I just stick with finding a holosun 510c?
