Things could have changed, craftsmanship is not really the “in” thing now of days.
The McCormick mags I have for about 6 or 7 years old.
Half the mags I had were well used, this was about 7 years ago , the others were newer. I never hsd those issues and I ran mine in a few pistol courses and in IDPA a few times.
Ha! Lol! Love the hypothetical! Also love 1911s so maybe I could brown-nose my way into the new regime’s government elite. And in so doing, I suppose a bit of greed would take the better of me. In that vein, I’ll keep my Colt Competition but lie and claim it was lost in battle, and then take advantage of the free, cost-is-no-concern directive and help run up the new government’s deficit by ordering a Wilson custom build:
https://www.wilsoncombat.com/custom-work-gallery/#gallery-160782/6
But why stop there? I’d order one for each of my family members, maybe diversifying our 1911 collection by getting custom builds from Ed Brown, Colt, and Dan Wesson! All hail LoneWolfMcQuade and 1911s!
FWIW, so far I haven’t had a problem with factory stainless 8-round Colt mags, 8-round Wilson Combat mags, and blued 7-round Colt mags.
I bought 4 of those, 150.00 but worth it

I gotta chime in on this one
I would carry any 1911 that was vetted
We all know they have issues if not properly maintained
Screw all the series 80 pistols
Colt,Remington,kimber, Taurus ,sig
70 series only
And if I had a choice I’d run one I built or @Mosinvirus built
If I had to buy one there’s a few
Cabot or les Baer would be at the top of thatl list Jjfu and Dan Wesson wouldn’t be far behind
Ed brown is a Arrogant ass so I would never give him my hard earned dollar
Oh I forgot one
The hackathorne special from Wilson is a solid choice
Colts 80 series are ok, they are not any less reliable , ive personally ran one through a pretty intense 2 day pistol course (6-800 rounds) and put pretty close to 2 or 3k through it total( i think). I could feel the difference in the trigger though, im pretty sure most people could if they paid attention to it especially if youve ever shot even a semi custom like Baer or Dan Wesson let alone something like A Nighthawk or Wilson.
Not that I don’t like 80 series or the brands that choose to make them
My issue is with the 4 extra parts that you have to use
There all very very small and are easily lost
Hence your pistol doesn’t function
Not in the least there a pain in the ass to install all the time
As for external extractors
It’s not natural to me
But I have shot some with them and they are functional
I have the Iver Johnson Officer Compact (Called a Thrasher) and had issues with the Factory Mag (ACT MAG) and replaced with Wilson Combat.
Got to get back out and shoot it more now.
Conversions are pretty simple, I wouldnt write one off due extra unnecessary parts but I agree, its not ideal.
I’ve done a few conversions now as well
It’s just those libtard parts that JMB didn’t put there in the first place
Thanks for the mention, @Giantspeed.
I would definitely choose to use my own.
Met a couple if guys at the range today, a couple of guys were from my Youtube viewer audience.
I laid out the 4 1911s I brought today. A few other people came over to shoot them.
One guy brought his new S.A. TRP and shot it right after my build 9. He shot mine better and specifically called out the trigger guard undercut as being way more comfortable and what allowed him a better grip.
Bottom line is that even a high end gun may be lacking something you may need/want.
Go custom…
You’ve been harping on the undercut trigger lmao
Build 2 will most likely have that
That’s awesome you met some guys that have watched your stuff
Hope you are well my friend
What was the cost on thisbif you don’t mind me asking ?
Wilson mags just plain work.
this is pretty much what I did on my series 80s
