First 2011 build

Greetings from NC. Already built a 9mm 1911 and now will embark on a 2011 STI build. Got most of my parts ordered now need the correct rail cutting jig to complete the process. Went with the same RIA slide and barrel combination I used on my 1911 9mm build. I realized I must get a new cutting jig. What do you recommend. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome from Central Maine, can’t offer you any advice on your build but there are a lot of smarter guys here that can. I just shoot 1911s I leave the building to the guys that know what they are doing.

welcome to the forum. Glad you joined us here. I personally use the Matrix Precision on my 1911 builds. But you might want to talk to @Mosinvirus He is kind of the 1911 guru here.

@Bimmerland, welcome to the forum and congratulations on building a 1911.

Are you cutting rails on a mill or manual jig?

Matrix Precision is the most versatile jig when it comes to frame materials and types, and models.

If you are talking about a simple fixture to hold the frame in a mill vise then i would recommend Limited 10 fixture.

Bought the matrix 2011 jig. Waiting for a slide and a msh to arrive then I’ll begin the task. Mosinvirus does have all the tutorials I need. Thanks for all the help so far.

Can you do me a huge favor and measure the deck height from the top of the slide stop pin hole?
