Ghost guns - child of gun control

As I have stated many times previously, I find it ironic that the 80% market only started as result of the squeeze on the gun ownership.

If CA didn’t constantly try to make it harder for law abiding people to get guns, the law abiding people would not have to get creative to continue to practice their rights.

How did 80% handgun frames come about? Why would anyone want to spend more money to build one (btw very different from IKEA furniture) rather that going to the FFL dealer to buy one?
Because that is not possible due to gun control - handgun roster.

How did 80% receivers come about? Same thing - gun control.

Funny and sad to think that had CA not messed with 2nd amendment, not try to make it more difficult for the law abiding to practice their rights, not make it too expensive for the middle and lower class to obtain the best method for defense we would probably never see the 80% market get created.

Thoughts?

It seems like all liberal or socialist laws and ideas tend to have the complete opposite effect what they intended. They have a 99% failure rate yet they keep on plugging away to ruin the country! But then again , without their bullshitt, we wouldn’t be able to watch you and @Giantspeed building pistols. We like watching you build pistols. That is my only point of glass half full on the matter

I agree with these thoughts
There are reasons that this market came about ca law being at the fore front
I am grateful though in a few ways that this market came about
It allows you to customize a weapon the way you like and it also allows you to build in a time frame that suits the buyer
It also allows someone to learn and further skills if they choose to actually follow the path
The prices of some weapons warrant this approach in my situation
But it also allows a learning experience that is priceless to me
The initial investment is a bit steep to start building 1911 pistols but I looked at it as a investment in my future and education
Some folks will just not ever understand the satisfaction in building there own weapon
It has also made me a very good friend and mentor @Mosinvirus witch to me is priceless
I only hope that I can help folks as much as he has contributed and helped me

Miss-Information again.
The receiver cannot be purchased without an FFL Hence the term 80% build.
Receivers are serialized at the manufacturer under surveillance of the government.
Imported receivers are inspected by the government.
So if all these so called Ghost Guns exist then they were illegally manufactured and imported.
Proof again that CRIMINALS do not obey laws.

California pull your heads out of your ass and hear the POP.

I dont read up on these matters like I should, so please excuse my ignorance. I was always under the impression that an 80% receiver was not considered a complete receiver, no ffl needed and is not stamped/ registered because it was not complete? At least not in PA

I remember seeing in The Sportsman’s Guide catalog pistol 80% completed frames for sale advertising no FFL required.

You are correct in your assumption
As the burea states a 80% receiver is not considered a firearm until the end user completes it
Witch is the reason why it is Incomplete
It’s basically just a hunk of metal
When delivered
Until you complete it

And as a side thought
Folks the 80% market is a great great thing
It’s not very cost effective for most and it requires skill folks it’s not like building legos
It takes dedication and skill to get to this point of building skill
And for people thinking of getting into this
Please please know the laws and rules of doing this
It is completely legal for you to build your own personal weapon
It’s a serious crime to build a weapon for your buddy or friend
It’s considered manufacturing and requires a ffl to manufacture weapons

I thought to build or modify / personalize a Glock, all you needed was a Bic lighter and a wooden tongue depressor to shape it?

Or just melt your moms big black dildo down and put it in a mold.

All I meant buy this is all you really need is a dremell and a hand drill and some sandpaper
Try to use this to build a 1911

But, but, but, ghost guns can disperse 30 bullets in a 1/2 second.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I lack the skill to build either that way, tbh. I believe and get what you are saying though.

Had to look into the receiver question.
I haven’t had my FFL since the Clintonistas so I was a bit behind.
80% refers to 80% manufactured and does not qualify as a receiver yet.
In my day the receiver always required an FFL and was serialized but the world has changed with yet another ATF interpretation.
Any one want to lay money on that interpretation will change?
Sort of like Bumpstocks overnight did?
Didn’t think so…
But I stand corrected and thanks for setting me straight.
I would say Hey I’m only Human!! But I’m not…
At least my wife has convinced me I am not over 30 years…
I am either some disgusting body part, or some kind of animal.
Not sure which, but she loves me anyway so I will keep her.
Who else would tolerate me that long?
