Hey everybody,
I’m considering getting a Glock gen1 current production retro pistol they are making. As stupid as it sounds, I like how the grip looks and I want a 9mm as a shooter and for training people new to handguns.
My question is, how is the texture on the Gen 1 Glocks and is it any better or worse than the Gen 3?
Maybe I’m just being a silly goose convincing myself to buy another Glock instead of getting something else.
I’d really like to hear opinions from people that have experience with them.
@Frankandabean most here are 1911 fans, (or Revolvers) I liked St. John’s later work a little better myself. I know there is a Glock guy around here somewhere though. I like them Glocks because I don’t like their looks. No real attachment if they are only a tool, but my real experience with them starts and stops with the Gen 3.
Well, I owned and shot Glock 21 I never did like a Glock grip angle and fatness of the grips never were my cup of tea. I aint you but if’n I was I would buy a 1911 A-1 45ACP … thats a pistol for sure.
That’s cool, didn’t know it was a thing, I had a gen 1 way back when, I liked it, bet these news ones are cheaper then actual gen 1’s too, hope you get it and share with us
$2000? When are you going to get the slide to go with the frame?
I have a 40 year old Wilson Combat that I bought used 6 or 7 years ago for $1600. Most used ones were going for $2500+ and the new ones were $3500 and up. It is a nice gun and what I have been carrying most recently.
true true, I was counting on their LE Discount, so the cheapest model for me is more like $2,400. But I could get a lot of other cool stuff for the same money.
Glock Gen 1 grips are a little smoother than the gen3. No finger groves either. Still not hard to hold on to. Had several new shooters shooting my G17 gen 3 last week.
Most liked it over a sig 226.
The grip texture would be about like the side panel texture of the Gen3, but all the way around.
Why the P80 over a Gen5? The Gen5 has slight refinements from over the years that make it a better pistol. Much better trigger spring design now. Both lack the finger grooves. The only real reason I see for buying the P80 is if you’re a Glock collector and cannot get your hands on a true Gen1 but still want something that looks like one. I realize the heart wants what the heart wants, but the head says otherwise. I own about 20 Glocks, not one of them is the P80.
