Well, that’s crap! Santa is bad according to your version of the bible. But nowhere in the good book are guns mentioned. Just sticks, stones, sling shots & swords. So you stick to your version of the bible to chastise the poor fat guy in red because there is no mention of him in it, but have no problem straying to indulge in firearms, which are also not mentioned in it…

its the principle of the thing - Lying is mentioned a lot in the bible… bearing false witness - parents lying to kids leads to mistrust of the parents. Why not just tell them the truth and celebrate Christ’s birth and moreso his resurrection? Also Santa promotes bad theology - be good just for the rewards (presents) is works based, not grace.

As far as weapons go, swords are the good example I think in the bible - defense was the idea. If weapons become an idol or you raise them above your love for God, then they aren’t ok either.

Ya know I’m just messing with you , right? I get your point, but there was a Saint Nicholas, so technically not a lie

Christmas Day, Dec’ 25th, when one gets right down to brass tacks has absolutely nothing to do with the birth of Messiah. He was conceived on Dec’ 25th, but born on Sept 29th. It was bastardized by the Romans when they mixed paganism and Christianity to come up with their twisted version of Christianity to placate Christians (since they couldn’t kill them fast enough to stop the movement).

So Santa is actually OK since it’s the satanic holiday of saturnalia anyway. Want to celebrate the birth of Christ? It’s on Sept’ 29th. But the date is hidden in the Bible for a reason, but it is there if one is knowledgeable.

I’m not versed enough in biblical calendar and such to nail it down to Sept’ 29th, but it’s really easy to demonstrate that Christ wasn’t born in Dec’. The people had to go back to their towns to be taxed. It was an agrarian society, so to pay taxes it makes sense to collect them when they had their crops and money from the sales. That would be right after the harvest and not in the dead of winter. Sept’ is after the harvest and Dec’ is after much of the harvest has been consumed or the portion that was sold has the money spent. Can’t collect taxes if the farmers no longer have the money. But they can be collected if the tax collector is right there with outstretched palm when the crops are sold.

Check out the link for understanding the actual date.

He does it differently than I’ve heard in the past, but he explains it. FWIW, Sept 29th is still a religious holiday today though almost never spoken about today. I can’t remember the name of the day, but it’s the day that ā€œall the Angels in heaven rejoicedā€. Now why would they do that?

Anyway, to make a big deal of santa on a pagan holiday, saturnalia, and not even know the actual date of the birth is just wrong. FWIW, we aren’t supposed to celebrate the birth, but the death and resurrection. So santa hats are no big deal. It doesn’t mean you accept anything if it’s done to a symbol of yourself and you don’t accept it, in this case your username/avatar. By asking it not be done you demonstrated your lack of acceptance. But to allow what we’re supposed to recognize and find important, and confuse it with the birth falls into the trap that was set. At no time was the actual birth said to be important, that’s why it’s more or less hidden in the Bible. It’s not important, He was born, that’s enough. He died and was resurrected now that’s the important message and what we need to concentrate on, anything else is a side show intended to distract.

yeah I don’t celebrate the birth either - I do think feasting and getting together with family is nice - if you want to put your silly red hat on my avatar I really would be ok with it I suppose, just having some fun.

I’m pretty sure no one is worshipping the fat guy nor his red cap. All know its all about Christ! As to the exact day, what happened when, i could give a rats ASS!! I wasn’t there, I can’t prove 100% with certainty, neither can you! So many ā€œfactsā€ are mere opinions & interpretations of outdated languages not fully grasped or understood. On top of that, sometimes grossly twisted, both unintentionally or intentionally, so to each their own on the matter.

Now you know for certain! On rare, rare occasions, I can slightly, possibly be a complete fun loving, lighthearted, sarcastic SMART ASS!!! BUT, ALL IN GOOD FUN.

Cheated you playing cards? Stood your sis up on a date? Drank your last beer while you slept? You ā€œknowā€ this personally how? Or just heresy you read somewhere?

2 posts were split to a new topic: Bible Talk

well he may have been a good guy, but what he is known for is giving to some poor children (which is a good thing). Santa today is more about giving extra gifts to your kids - My kids don’t need more gifts, they need more coal - maybe I can give them gun powder and then they’ll give it to me to start reloading… hmmm

Also just a man, a shadow of what Christ is
