Hello. I found this site while looking for alternatives to youtube for video hosting, specifically in relation to firearms and rural life in general. I prefer steel and wood guns over newer plastic guns, but nothing wrong with them. Might even build an AR10 some day. I like resurrecting broken firearms, building and tuning. I was reading that the forum was the mainstay of this site, so here I am. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to the forum @OldPlace. 308ARs are great rifles. If you decide to build, head to 308ar.com before you buy parts. They are not all interchangeable.

Thanks! I’m leaning more towards a M1A tanker, but we’ll see. I’ve been hankering for a 45-70 lever gun for a while too. Still putting some finishing touches on a model 11 I put back together and modified slightly. It’s been a lot of fun. Been mainly looking for a 20 ga to modify for my sons. I’ve got an old Wards, but not sure I trust it enough for the kids. I’m a sucker for Model 11s and been considering finding one in 20ga. So many irons in the fire right now. Most of my money has been going into farm bits here recently.
