my name is Tobi. I’m 33 years old and from good old germany. As many of you guys now, there are some problems in europe and especially germany when it comes to gun ownership.
Long story short, i’ve been shooting since many years. Began with airguns and then the great airsoft episode arrived. Was quite fun, but i wasnt truly satisfied. So the blank guns came around the corner. Also quite fun, but from now on it had to be the real stuff. So i joined a local shooting society and went trough all the necessary procedures to finally get my hands on my own guns.
I created a small youtube channel, called “bavarian shooter”. For german circumstances, it is quite pupular but not comparable to US and other foreign content creators. I enjoy shooting and training very much, it is just the hobby of my life.
Youtube is a bit… lets call it strange, when it comes to gun stuff. So i tried to create a channel here at full30 a few weeks ago, which hasnt been activated so far.
So yeah, i like your community. It is something that is missing here in germany, also the fascination of shooting and hunting. And thats really sad. So i hope to find some friends here and get more usful informations about our common passion.
Thank you guys! @Robert you are absolutely right. Thats one of the major issues with my country, our government is so far left and green nowadays that is just a shame. You cant have fun driving a nice car, cant tell anyone that you like shooting with (real) guns or like to travel abroad with an airplane (and burn fuel). More and more people turn into complete idiots and snowflakes. Especially in this corona times they crawl out of every hole. Just pointless, unfortunately it is getting worse and worse.
Its ok It only took Europe 200 years last time to figure out that they had to re-secure Turkey to find peace again. Maybe they can figure it out in half the time this time. Better elect a non liberal pope fast!
Bavarian_shooter, so where in Bavaria are you? I’m slightly familiar with Munich, but more so with Garmisch/Partenkirchen and Berchestgaden. But it was 50 years ago and I know things have changed.
@BrianK Hey man, I’m from Landshut. Thats located about 50 kilometers northeast of munich. Garmisch is nice, but i love Berchtesgaden. Nature is nice, people are cool and grounded and just a few klicks away from austria.
I don’t believe I ever got to your locale. But I remember hearing the name. I can’t remember why.
Back then there were 2 Germanies. Maybe it was active in that somehow?
I liked Berch’ as well and mostly stayed there in the buildings taken over for the US GIs. I was mostly there in winter and did lots of skiing. Loved the Zugspitze.
Welcome from Florida, one of the more free of our 50. Trying to slow the tide of anti gun sentiment here. COVID and general craziness has actually helped our cause in some ways. Record numbers of new gun purchases and concealed weapons applications.
Maybe you remember the hijacked plane Landshut from the Lufthansa in the 70s. Left terrorists captured the plane and flew it to Mogadischu. That was the first famous counter terrorism action from our GSG9 police unit. That is the only reason i know why a foreigner should know the name Landshut.
Many of us foreigners have ancestors from your land, friend. America is European at heart after all.
I know a bunch of worthless info about the Holy Roman Empire but my knowledge of your country after the 19th century is not all that vast. On a occasion I nerd out on stuff about the the rise of the free cities and the martial/militia culture of Germany in the 16th-18th century. Your country in its current state depresses me about as much as my own country does…damn socialists
Thank you guys Nah, there are a few great companys in germany who are manufacturing firearms. For example the AR15: We have HERA Arms (they sell a lot of stuff in the US, thats what i heard), Oberland Arms, Schmeisser, Haenel and DAR. DAR is the highest tier of ARs from our country, but very expensive. The others are also very good and pricewise close together. Cant remember a real shitty one from here. Of course you have a lemon from time to time, but general speaking do we have good stuff around. HK is nice, but expensive and too much hyped for my taste. Also you cant get shit from them, because HK traditionally dont give a damn about civilian users and strafes you with waiting times up to two years.
For example, one of my rifles is a Proarms PAR Mk3 from the czech republic. Really nice piston AR15, shoots like a peach and awesome quality. Retails for about 1600-1900 EUR, which makes is a 2k USD gun for sure. Cheapest around are imports from Windham or Savage, you can have one of those for around 1000-1100 EUR. Most expensive are some custom rifles like the DAR for at least 2500-3000 EUR.
I like to buy german, but have no problem to buy from foreign countrys when the quality and the price is good enough. I had always bought optics and furniture from the US, simply because it is just better for the price point. Of course we have some stuff like Steiner, S&B or Kahles from europe, that is just second to none. But that suff costs easily two to three times more than nearly comparable stuff from the states. So yeah… keep it up making such nice things for my guns
