I built the tanks when I was a kid taking one of those gunsmithing correspondence courses. Set it up in the kitchen, bought the chemicals from Brownells. I can tell you first hand a standard exhaust fan above the stove does not get it done! Mom was a little upset, took days for the smell to die down.

It will be a little while - there’s still a lot to do on this build. But I am thinking about doing some trial bluing on some sacrificial 4140 parts.

:laughing: I rebuilt a snowmobile carburetor in our kitchen when I was a teenager. Mom was pissed. I said, “But it’s too cold in the garage.” That was the wrong thing to say. :laughing:

I put small thin trails of gun powder from shotgun shells on cookie sheets and lit them,

it was fun until I ran out and used flash powder from firecrackers

there was a wee bit of smoke and a wee bit of pants shitting

not the same powders
