I just got done touring the machine shop my uncle works in. It’s BIG they got 250 ton cranes to move parts. They got 3 lathe so big the operator rides on the carriage while working the parts. At a guess they have $250 million in machine tools.

I spent my high school summers and my first two years out of school working in a tool and die special machine shop. It is amazing what some of those men could do on ww2 surplus machines. I have watched some of the old toolmakers make fools out of collage boy eng. They would tell the old men something could not be done without cnc machines and computers and the old man would go do the math with pencil and paper then set up a 50 year old machine and have a finished part before they could program it.
