Let's see your Gun safes

Mine’s got a 60min 1400 degree rating as well. My safe weighed ~650lbs… Needless to say the next time it is moved will be it’s last…

I still have a turn key cabinet, definitely I the market for a keypad sort of safe…but I was thinking of turning my extra closet into a safe with keypad entrance:face_with_monocle::face_with_monocle:

Well, I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes here, but here are a few things about safes and what to do with them. Those Winchesters from Tractor Supply are pretty much just like the onethat was pried open in that video. For the most part, heavier is better, but now always. Bolted down is definitely good and if you can place the safe where the opening side is against a wall that would help a lot. That prevents them from being able to pry on the door. Most of the 12 Ga safes are much like the one pried open. Heavier body metal and 1/4" plate added to the door helps a lot also. As for the locks, I try to never sell an electronic unless the customer insists on one. I ask them, “How many of the small LED flashlights do you have? How many of them work?” I know a lot of mine don’t work because the batteries leak and corrosion prevents a good connection. The same can happen in a safe lock. And the electronica WILL fail at some point. Yes, the dial takes a bit longer to open, but it will work for generation.Like the man in the video said, talk to a professional before you buy. Another thing I’ll mention is the hinges. I prefer external hinges. They allow the door to be opened all the way to allow easy access and more light inside. The concealed hinges only let the door open 90 degrees and because of the geometry of how it is made, the door blocks a lot of access to the contents.
Most brands make several levels of safes. Winchester, Liberty, Browning, and almost all manufacturers have lines from just a lock box to a very secure safe. The more value you store, the higher rated safe you need. At least in my opinion.
