Lever Action 30-30.... Still Viable For Hunting?

Never owned one, but there’s no reason it wouldn’t be VERY effective hereabouts. 150 yards is a long shot (longest for me was 160 yards with a .260 Rem) and it would be enough for the 200 to 250 lb bucks hereabouts.

I took it from a caliber point of view. The 30/30 is a heavy slow bullet that is not easily deflected by twigs and other small foliage. It is an effective round for brush shooting and it will take down a good sized deer. The lever actions are a proven system and they also work. So unless you are bear hunting the 30/30 is a still a good deer gun. I took a deer down with my 7.62X39 SKS one shot kill so I would think that with the heavier bullet the 30-30 would have been as, if not more effective.
