I am not a James Yaeger fan at all , the guy is a puffed up goof that says alot of dumb shit but kudos to him for doing this. Basically he found out he is dying from ALS and he wants to go out on his own terms. He believes in Ukraine’s cause so he is fighting for it, all bullshit aside good for him. For anyone not aware of who this guy is,Yaeger is a controversial firearms instructor and youtube personality that is famous for jumping out of his rig and running away during an ambush in the middle east. He has since posted lots of dumb stuff like threatening to kill people and things like that. Basically I think Yaeger is seeking redemption by aiding Ukraine in what is probably going to be his last fight.
I went to a couple of the YT gunslinger channels and posed the question to them, When are you loading up and going to ukraine and show those skills for real ? got no replies…imagine that. Yeager is an ego whore and he can have it, ditto to what Robert said…
Have you watched the video that supposedly shows him “running away”? Careful now, I did, closely and many times, what I saw was a man laying down suppressive fire for his buddies and he did it by moving towards the contact, using the term “running away” is simply repeating the propaganda someone spread to discredit the man, shame. James has always been a lover of Liberty, why no mention he dropped his life, grabbed his kit, and drove help Clive Bundy fight back against the government, a man he didn’t know.
Like any great leader James has opinions he believes that are solid for him and bull to others, his integrity has never seriously been questioned that I am aware of.
I have seen it but I wasnt there so I wont say much. It could go either way there are people that served with him that dont support what he did. Its a controversial topic to say the least.
He has done some other sketchy stuff but thats not the purpose of this thread so I wont get into specifics anymore here. Im giving him props here and I really hope he gets his redemption and goes out on his own terms ,fighting for something he truly believes in. Nothing but respect to him for this.
I think he is the one with a youtube video where he says (paraphrasing) the 1911 is as unreliable as the Glock is reliable. I don’t watch or subscribe. Is that saying a Glock fires every time and the 1911 never fires? I could be mistaken about the verbiage. I haven’t seen it.
It is what it is, he is a controversial personality in the gun world. But even if I dont like the guy , this is commendable. Thats my point , nothing more nothing less.
I think he over dramatizes certain hot topics in his videos to stir up shit then likes to argue. I know Clint Smith is a 1911 guy and speaks pretty highly of Yaeger as a person. Yaeger has trained under him quite a few times supposedly.
Most people that know him outside of the internet seem to hold a different mostly positive opinion of him. Maybe its a marketing thing with the bad boy persona, I dont know.
After his video where he made the statement about killing people if the government goes “one more inch”, the state of TN yanked his handgun carry permit. Loss of the permit allows an appeal process, and the state had raised questions about his mental stability. According to Nashville news media reports, he showed up at the appeal hearing wearing a suit and tie, and his lawyer explained that the James Yeager in the youtube videos was nothing more than a fictional persona that was created to generate publicity for his business.
There are at least a few TN gun owners that had negative opinions of him prior to him gaining his youtube notoriety, due to his apparently inserting himself into an issue surrounding a regular shoot that was held in the same county (or a neighboring one?) as his business. From what I have heard, the shoot was never held again, and some at least partly blame this on his effort to involve himself.
He seems intent on leaving an impression on people, whether it’s a positive impression or a negative one.
Don’t know Yaeger or the story about his diving out of a rig when ambushed but I still remember the first time I found myself in a pile of shit and anyone who says it’s not tough or a whole new deal is probably a liar. I know I was surprised overwhelmed by it and figured it was the end. It took maybe a minute (who knows) and I realized I had to do something or I just might be over run and would die. So I took in what what going down and responded aggressively. I figured if I was going to die at least one of them was going to as well. I did remember a older guy who once after being hit a couple times with non life threatening rounds who told me if you’re not down on the ground bleeding out stay in the fight and carry it to the other side as fast as you can, a dressing can come later and if you don’t it won’t matter as the other side will be moving at you to finish the job, When it did happen to me, I don’t ever remember being told what to do shouted at or threatened and just went to work pressing the other side aggressively, I do remember wondering if I had enough ammo for my rifle close by and reached down, checked if my sidearm was still there. It was and it turned out I never needed to use it. Running off never entered my mind. I have seen guys run off and it usually happened instantly when the shock of a mortar or something landed very close and the guy/s were simply so fkg startled they bolted and when they got a ways off behind cover came alive and entered into the fray. None of them were cowards, scared sure, but not cowards. So this guy Yaeger whom I’ve never paid attention to is getting a little rubber but is still going to the Ukraine, More power to him. At 76 I came home from Iraq in Dec of 04. I’m still in pretty good shape but my days of running and jumping are behind me so unless they had a pressing need for an old fart who’s still a good shot they probably don’t need somebody else to feed right now unless they are a lot younger and tougher than I. Let’s just hope there’s at least one Russian soldier out there with the balls to put a 3 round burst into Putin as soon as possible. The civilan people there deserve better than to be slaughtered by a tinpot dictator,
