Making my first Knife

I started with a 12x1.25x.25 piece of 1080 steel. I’m going to keep the bevel as is on the clip. The bevel on the blade was just practice. I’ll be making a beveling jig to grind the blade side bevel. Not really sure how to shape the handle for the scales. I’m wanting to do a full tang handle with a guard and a deer horn pommel. I’ll be working on it in my spare time. I’m hoping to have the jig built by the end of next week.

Nice , good blades are always needed at the rendevous and skinning buffalo.

Keep at it! I know a guy who started making knives as a hobby back in the '90s. His models eventually got picked up for production and now he’s pretty much retired. Only works when he feels like making more knives.

Nice! I’ll be looking forward to watching the progress on this. It’s another project I’d like to undertake myself at some point. Too many interests, not enough resources yet.
