After seeing your self built glock longslide, I was expecting to see a self built 1911.
But a coonan is always impressive.

I had an early model after Coonan was resurrected, one of the 1st hundred
mine began to curl right on the corner here and looks like you might have a touch of that?

Can’t say, sold mine, didn’t want a tuna can slide
I had to send it in, thumb safety would fall out, I asked about it while they had it, Dan did respond personally and said it would not get worse but I couldn’t see that being the case
Customer service was good, they even mailed it back direct which I appreciated

@Robert. Nice CZ. Well I guess I’ll just have to see how the slide holds up. It is the softest shooting 357. A super blast to shoot. You sold both of yours. Must have been a sad day.

I loved it enough to get that rig made which Coonan had on their site for a awhile and KbarJ still has on theirs, plus I had the cadet made with custom serial number to match it
but it was not reliable, always had stovepipes, didn’t matter ammo or the shooter or grip etc
And that was unacceptable, punted them without much regret

Which one?
I got the holster for the 1911 on fleabay.
It is pretty darn good except if I hike with it or try to climb boulders, the leather flexes enough to hit the magazine release.
I am also not super over joyed with the partially exposed trigger guard in this holster.
Also really exposes the gun to damage off trail.
And I just noticed how the strap defeats the grip safety.
But it looks nice.
I am looking for a more robust hiking holster for it.
The chest holster for the Redhawk is just suberb in every way.
It is my fishing gun in bear country.
Best way I have found to carry a big as$ revolver and still be able to climb canyon walls.

Here is a failed 1911 holster.
Turns out the screws protrude inside.
There is a retention strap somewhere.
If you aren’t really careful, it scratches the slide.
It also put the gun way out off my hip.
No bueno.
I actually liked it but it just isn’t practical.
Sorry Uncle Mike or whatever.
I have a leather paddle too, but it is way outta control dangerous for hiking and climbing.
But it is relegated to… the drawer, now.

Kimber Gold Guardian. Early Kimber so old the night sights are all but gone. #48 of 250 made. Shoots like a rifle.

many years ago when I carried a Gov 1911 38super my shoulder holster kind of had that same profile - I would put the retention strap across or between the hammer instead of across the palm grip.

I was referring to the kbarj web page for the coonan. Thay cheat rig looks awesome. That company should make a keydex holster to clip into it.
Their uses to be a company that made the beltster .
But I think they arent making them any more.
Maybe one of those yaqui style holsters would work better

The #5 might work well with a good belt for hiking. I think best bet is to get the chest rig company to make an kydex holster. Looks like the beat way to hike comfortably

I really would like a proper holster for my SR 1911.
I carry Hard Cast Buffalo Bore in it when I fish the wild canyons.
Otherwise, same bullet, .357 Redhawk.
I actually took my AR down 1000 feet into a canyon, it was ridiculous.
You only do that once!
I just landed my drone.
This is where I hike and live.
Also, carry.
We have a lot of catamount and plenty of black bear.
Over yonder is the Absarokas (Yellowstone area) about 90 miles away.
Over there they have a lot of Griz.
The only 911 around here is the one on your hip.
