Seems to free up the off-hand, while the on hand should be busy. His description of manipulating the optics would tend to make a shooter ambidextrous.

I think I would like only because of being a old school FN shooter - something about being able to maintain sight picture and manipulate the cocking mechanism

I agree, especially when shooting in the prone position. All of my other rifles are side chargers and it’s more natural to operate. The rear charging AR is awkward in some situations, IMHO.
