Not Worth The Bullet...

The title is a little misleading, a couple of these firearms were rushed into service with little R&D having been done to ensure a reliable weapon. The AR15 and the limey bullpup being two examples of that. Both seem to be well liked in their modern form.

the fault of the M16, was simply politics and the senior management/officers who tried to fail the xm177 program in favour of a rifle they shouldn’t have adapted in the first place. The US Air Force was actually the first to adapt the AR variants almost lock stock and barrel - it was the US Army wanting to maintain the midget 30,06 and the rifle that fired that round Where the L85 went wrong like a lot of military firearms - it was original designed as a 4.5mm and was adapted to 5.56mm to match the US demands.

I like the modern AR platform but if I only had access to pre-m4a1 type ARs I mightve looked elsewhere. The platform had a very rough start.

I think we all have comfort levels with what we enjoy
But I’d like to believe I would is whatever was at hand I have my own prejudices for sure
But I’d it works or works
