Paper patching the 45/70 for th1886

My experimentations with paper patching for my 1886 45/70. Compressed 3F black powder loads. It quite the challenge working out the most accurate load. The rifle has express sites that I put on it. It’s been a journey with black powder cartridges.

The rifle has never had smokeless shot through it. The bullets I’m trying now are 100% lead, 400gr. They are gift wrapped with 8 pound onion skin paper which of course prevents leading. 3/16 grease wad for the bore.
