PDW options

Okay! What would you want in a personal defense weapon?
The criteria usually incorporates a being small enough to put in a backpack, a capacity option of 30 round magazines, generally a short barrel.

So what would you want your to be chambered in?
Barrel Length?
What type of firearm?
Is there already a company that makes what you want or if you already have it what is it?

Just for personal defense I would have to go with what I have and if a backpack is to used, maybe the MP5 in 9mm or the Mac 10 in 45.

Two alternates could be the S&W 76 or the AR15 pistol, but the would be second cause the smiths mags are a pain to load and dang near impossible without their loader. I don’t even like ar pistols cause of the excess muzzle blast and in a emergency situation nobody has time to put on ear protection.

B&T GHM9 9mm w/folding wire stock. The only time it would wear the wire stock is if it must be folded. I prefer it as further below with rigid stock for a better cheek weld.

And as a SBR w/o folding stock. I took alot of the clutter off of it but don’t have a current picture.

KetTec 9mm sub2000 folded and w/300 mw green laser, uses my M&P mags

And open and ready for business.

I don’t have one yet, but I would imagine lots of arm braced AR pistols would also make great PDWs if a little loud mouthed. There’s a huge difference between shooting them at the range with ear pro’ and shooting them when the SHTF.

But if I’m going to go non folder I’d take one of these. Scopes have been removed for weight and red dots put on both.
Desert Tech .223 wylde MDR w/.30 can attached. Negative… it’s heavy. More attractive when I get my .300 BLK conversion. “Soon” so I’m told.

Or a bit lighter, a KelTec RDB in 5.56.

Lots of good options and suggestions. I would probably pick an AR pistol in 9mm for my first choice. The Ruger PC Charger would be my second choice, then probably the Sub2000.

I picked up the PC Carbine recently and I really like it. I plan to buy the Charger after things calm down a bit.

M1928 Thompson
(A1 did not fit drums)

So what would you want your to be chambered in? 45ACP
Barrel Length? 10 inches
What type of firearm? Sub machine gun

Fits in a violin case, kinda like a back pack, only for city kids.

That backpack better have some strong straps to hold that heavy Thompson and drum full of 45.

The Sub 2000 would make a good option as Brian said, folds up and they work. also accurate

The sten would make a decent one too, the stock slides off with a push of a button. only problem is it couldn’t be carried with a mag installed as it on the side.
