Hey guys! I’m still around, just been busy trying to become a SME in all things Glock and P80 builds. Spending a lot of time on reddit helping others with their builds and troubleshooting their issues. Currently working on two for myself and waiting on a shipment of parts from the mothership. I’ll post up some pics as I complete the ones I’m working on, then that should tide me over for a while. I have an 80% 9mm 1911 frame ordered and that will be one of my next projects. I also have a regular govt 1911 and an AR9 in the works…too many irons in the fire. I tend to do that.
Looking forward to the pics!
Glock builds are easy there’s really not much to them
Once you get to the 1911 builds that’s when your really building
What jigs and tools are you using for theses builds
I’m finding milling the pocket on an AR10 is a challenge right now
I buggered up my first Poly80 a bit, JB weld fixes them nicely
I’ve already done several P80 builds, these are just the last two that I have planned for now. I’ve also already built a few 1911s, but not a 9mm one. Using a Stealth Arms frame with Clark/Para cut. I use the Stealth Arms jig to cut the rails and seat and drill the holes.
1911’s are a challenging build.
With J-B Weld . . . . Do I really need the 80% in the first place??
wow, that’s industrious
The RTF slide w/threaded barrel are a nice touch
Trigger safety seems a bit futile
Heard they are coming for these kits, who’s gonna come out with a 70% kit till the legislation catches on in a few years lol
We need an 80% DIY “Sue the ATF” kit. Just fill in the blanks and drop in the mail. Maybe put one in every P80 box.
I agree, but did you see the latest gun gripes? knocking on doors for them p80 kits. Makes me want to make one and I have minimal tools, have a vice and a drill…
As long as you don’t buy the “full” kit–which is out of stock or not for sale–you should be fine. Will just need to hunt around a bit on Ebay and Gunbroker, etc. for all the necessary completion parts.
The whole issue at hand with the complete build kits is that the ATF is now redefining what constitutes a firearm. The frame is still an 80% frame and parts are still parts. For some reason, the ATF is now considering the packaging of these kits all together as a firearm. The ATF claim is that Polymer 80 did not submit the entire kit for consideration. It shouldn’t matter. Parts are still parts and paperweights are still paperweights until they are completed with the “milling” process. Another piece of this is that the ATF had a felon order a kit and he received it. I still don’t see a problem with that, but it would be illegal for the felon to complete the receiver. That’s on the felon.
It’s just another step toward more gun control. Leftists are ramping up for when they gain more control in January.
Still hoping for 4D chess, another Supreme Court case, martial law, military tribunals, revolution, civil war, secession, asteroid strike, North Korean missile, UFO landing, Second Coming, literal Kraken, Krampus, time-traveling General Washington and his 25th Century Continental Army, etc.
Never did post any pics. Added a couple since the two I was working on at the beginning of this thread. Pretty much done with building Glock clones. Have the parts for a 26 and a spare Strike 80 frame, but no hurry to do those. Waiting on one part to come in so I can finish my 2nd P320 build (M18 clone), then it’ll be all 1911s and ARs.
Last one I put together was a Glock built frame with a Lone Wolf G35 brushed stainless upper with night sights, shoots like a laser beam, ringing 8 inch plate at 50 yards is almost too easy, by far the most accurate pistol I own. I have two Poly80 frames that I will possibly finish at some point.
I built a G23 and a G17. Both run well. Nothing special but it was a fun exercise.
I used an old fashion hand powered drill and my pocket knife on the p80 frames.
There’s not much to them as you know, but a lot can go wrong if the build is sloppy or the parts are inferior. There is a significant number of people that actually build the first firearm they own. It’s kind of scary sometimes when you see what they are doing. The builders do usually come out the other end understanding how the things work and what constitutes a safe pistol so it’s not all bad.
Where are y’all getting your Polymer80 frames? I’ve been looking for Glock polymer80’s, but they seem sold out everywhere. I’d be interested in trying my hand at building one.
These are all vendors that have some models in stock that I’ve purchased from before. Check them all with shipping to find the best deal. If you’re serious about doing one, DM me and I can hook you up with a good deal on OEM Glock lower parts kit if you want to do a 17/19/26 clone. OEM parts are the gold standard for reliability in these builds. I’ll do a solid for the folks on this forum before I unload them on reddit in the next few days.
