RIA1911A1 in 10mm

Picked up a Rock Island 1911A1 in 10mm. Full length guide rod. Bushingless bull barrel. Forgot about hammer bite. Only ran 20 rounds through it so far. Trigger pull in the 5lb range. For $409 I can’t bitch.

What is it that they call “the crown” of a barrel? Is that the countersink cut on the muzzle? I thought it was important to have one to maintain accuracy in case of dings on the muzzle.

Yes the part of the barrel the bullet exits is below the outer edge of the muzzle.
Lately a 11 degree crown seems to be the preferred set up.

Still an excellent find at sub-500! I’ve never heard a bad thing about RIA.

About 600 less than what I paid to build one too :money_mouth_face:

Still needs a beaver tail grip safety and commander hammer and better sights. These will happen eventually if I decide to keep it. But a good price for a basic platform.

A four penny nail takes care of that grip safety nicely

Grip safety doesn’t bother me. I have a Wilson commander hammer and drop in grip safety on order.

Don’t neglect the Wilson mags!

I have a WW1 vintage 1911 (not 1911A1) and get hammer bite on my thumb web. I just use a batting glove. Might want to get a tat there like a hammer bite mark. Good shooting!

Already installed a Wilson commander hammer and beaver tail grip safety.
