Well, Armslist has decided to commit an act of self destruction by now charging buyers a fee to contact a seller. They did this overnight on the 21st without any notification. Now their CEO has posted a very small link that says “due to lawsuits by the Brady Bunch” blah blah blah…they will now be charging to buy and sell on Armslist. But it’s still free to look!
A quick scan of the inter webs shows that the reaction to paying for access to a site as generally trashy and poorly presented as Armslist is overwhelmingly negative (who would have guessed?)
So, with that in mind, are there any other sites out there (besides Gunbroker ) that are somewhat decent?
I did Gunbroker for over 15 years. They were my go-to for selling anything I needed to pass on to a new owner. Unfortunately they changed their terms of service for sellers and really hit you hard on reserve auction items that don’t sell. I found that out the hard way on one item that didn’t sell and they charged me a $15 fee on that non-selling item. I contacted them and asked when it had changed, and they basically said it was in the fine print for listing reserve items and had changed the last time they updated their tos. Now I know that to a lot of guys on this board $15 isn’t a lot. But to me it’s well over a half of what I make per hour in gross pay and I don’t have a lot to spare. So I was a bit upset, asked them to give me a pass one time and I’d be aware of it the next. They told me to And pay up. I told them that if they wanted to treat a customer of 15 years like that then they could pound sand and I’d dispute the charges through my CC company…which I did. Needless to say, I unfortunately don’t deal with them anymore. Just like eBay, they are now more interested in catering to big vendors and Not interested in dealing with the little guy anymore.
Armslist in my area has been over priced trash and spam for years. Now i only check one for sale forum and with used prices on there i may as well buy new and have it shipped in. Since our goof ball governor made personal go through an ffl buying used has lost all appeal…
I quit armslist as soon as they started making you pay to list stuff…i’m going to work a few flea markets soon and unload a pile of stuff I really don’t need anymore.
Listen, I don’t know how they do it on the rez, but off the rez bringing the forum to gunbroker is easier than bringing gunbroker to the forum
Now, that said, if you wan’t, I’ll list you for sale on GB, you may need to hike up that deerskin a bit though, maybe add in one of those store gift cards too
