This is something I’ve seen from a couple of students in my classes. I always use it as a teachable moment during the class. Have you ever had someone you’re teaching do this? Even after you tell them during class some will soon forget when they get to the range.

That is what I did the very first time shooting. The instructor said pull the slide back and let go, it wouldn’t break. It just seemed so loud and aggressive at the time. Got over that pretty quick :glock::glock:

This is why I tell people to use the slide stop release. I’ve taught some of my family, and they all seem to have issues with either pulling the slide back or releasing it under tension when locked back (resulting in them riding it back). Showing a push/pull method and then telling them to immediately release the slide works too, if they can’t work the slide stop.
