Shooting the 50 BMG from a Tripod?

After trying the Armalite 50 BMG on that plastic table, I thought, why not give it a try on my Sunwayfoto rifle tripod? I won’t like, was even more nervous about this than I was with that table.

How about trying ir with one leg back so the 2 back legs can’t cradle rock. I would like to know if it makes a difference.

it migh help a bit but even though she is fairly mild for a 50, still a pretty big bump there

Yeah I reckon so. I am also thinking  tripod in a tripod .
Right leg offset back a half step . If ya catch my drift.
Like pushing into it
Even when shooting in the isosceles stance with handgun. A weight forward on the toe is the approach .

right, the point of this video was more about the tripod holding the weight and the rifle not jumping out or breaking something more than anything and on those fronts at least… mission accomplished. and what is crazy, that isn’t even their heavy duty model

Well I watched it again… you are standing off set … so I dont know what may help that other than a wider tripod .

Dangit really

so the legs on this will move out way, way wider than what they are… so doing that may stop the rocking but the rocking isn’t bad

also make it a bit barrel heavy - put more mass on the single leg

yeah, really don’t wanna do things wrong on purpose… i had rather not push it and break a $500+ tripod :joy::rofl:

I didn’t think it rocked to bad at all.

My problem with a tripod is usually wind vibration, so I steady it by running a line from the apex like a plumb bob, and tying it to my pack.

The best way is so it barely has any weight on the ground. Then I use my Bo Staff as a lever, sticking it through the pack’s finger grab loop, then stepping on the staff with my left foot while I run the gun. The combined downward force from doing that stabilizes it greatly.

Wyoming wind is a bitch. If I can, I would rather take the shot prone off of my pack.

yup, that would work too
