My Colt 6920 was pretty decent but Colt as a company sucks. I suppose thier actions in the 90’s were for financial reasons too…but they have proven they will fuck over us civilians. There are better options in almost every way possible.
No they are not? They are around 1k , same as Spikes, BCM, etc…They offer bare minimum mil/minimum spec rifles with carbine gas systems which in 16" barrels is pretty retarded. To each thier own though, Colt revolvers are still beautiful pieces and last I checked thier 1911s were decent.
The last colt AR I priced in was $1200. You can buy cheap AR’s for $400
Those are not thier competition though. They are a duty-grade rifle for serious use such as Mil or LE which is more along the lines of BCM or Spikes who also have gov contracts requiring special QC standards to be met.
Past tense, “you could”. …more like $700 now for the models formally sold @ $400- if you can find one
In the early to mid-1990s, Colt was bought by some guy that did an interview where he stated that he was going to show the firearms industry that it was possible to run a firearm manufacturing company as “a legitimate business”. He then had various models discontinued, on the criteria that he considered them to be guns that criminals would use. When other companies were putting their resources into developing guns that people were buying, the idiot at Colt was claiming that customers should be buying what he wanted them to buy, not guns that he considered tools of criminals - small, compact handguns that were easy to conceal (keep in mind that this was when the federal government had imposed a 10 round limit on magazines, and states were starting to make it easier to get a carry permit, so compact handguns were becoming the hot item on the market).
Colt has a long history of abandoning the civilian market when they have a government contract, then coming back to the civilian market after the government contract ends, begging for people to buy their guns so that they (a US manufacturer with a long history) won’t go out of business.
Remington has had quality control issues for some time.
Being an American gun manufacturer is not enough. There is also customer service, making a product where the quality at least somewhat matches the price, and keeping up with market trends (making the guns that people want to buy).
Im still seeing ARs for decent prices albeit a little more but building is a much better idea. I just ordered some parts from several places for my next build since im essentially gun-less
I had to sell almost all my guns after my woman lost her job then I lost mine due to covid shut downs.
I haven’t priced in AR’s in a long time so my example may be out of date. I personally am not into them as much as most people. I still prefer semi auto shotguns for self defense, lever actions for hunting, and wheel guns for hiking.
I do have a few AR’s but I use them the least.
But nice to have should you really need the firepower
Yeah for sure. I do like the ammo capacity of them but really that’s the only advantage it’s got in self defense over my Tritek bullpup 12 gauge
Ooooh! Don’t think I’ve seen one of those
Sorry I meant
tristar
Its a matter of preference I will take an AR over a bullpup rifle any day. The AR can be a tack driver and fit many roles from a run and gun rifle to a precision DMR/SPR type rifle. The round is really the only limiting factor and thats a rabbit hole for another thread.
ARs sort of suck as shotguns though, at least in my opinion.
Maybe CDNN will pick up a bunch more leftover sig barrels and sell them for $49.00.
I’m down to my last 2.
Have you ever fired a bullpup shotgun?
No , fired quite a few 5.56s and a .308 though. Not much of a shotgun guy, tbh.
Hey, that pony ain’t gonna roll itself onto the lower ya know.
There’s still Anderson lowers if you want a budget pony.
If’n i was to have a Colt or two, does that make me a heathen.
Yes, it does.
