Spanish Mauser restoration

Does anyone know where to get some wood for a Spanish '93? I have a transitional pattern cavalry carbine that I’m bringing back from sporterization and finding a stock set is the last item on the list. The correct pattern for my rifle (based on serial number research) should have the front band/sight ears from the '95 and the back half of a standard '93

Look for Spanish 1895 Mauser Carbine.
That what you have there.

Unfortunately the M95 furniture will not fit. It’s deffinetly an M93 but given the serial number range and barrel length it’s a transitional '93. I’m going to need custom work probably.

the 93 and 95 have different recievers as far as I can tell.

I could do some kludging and make an M95 stock fit with my Dremel but I’m not sure I want a Bubba Special

Never do a bubba special. I am confident you can find it. What about finding an identical rifle with a frosty and or poor barrel and use the stock from it?

It’s a sub 2000 rifle pattern and most of them didn’t survive the Spanish civil war if my research is correct. This is the rifle my dad bought me to hunt deer with way back when (and it’s the rifle that got me into milsurps god knows how long ago) so I realy do want to get it perfect. Are there any good stock builders out there that don’t charge the same price my kidneys are worth?

Bummer. That was going to be my last suggestion was to talk to a wood smith.

I am under the impression the 95 is a shortened 93 with a circular boltface as opposed to the 93 square bolt face, and a shoulder behind the bolt like a 98.
Yours looks circular and has the shoulder.

But one thing I have found over the years with the old Mauser’s is they are all custom fit with minor work needed to fit each rifle.
Handgaurds and Stock lengths especially.

Pretty much, although the 93 has a different cut under the feed lips and the screw is centered on the '93 and offset on the 9593 95

Thanks for the links though

I will give Pops credit though, a 7x57 carbine is a great kids gun if you’re huntin deer in thick timber and the kid in question is a weedy little fella.

I’m no expert for sure just educated enough to get in trouble you may say.
I am a Mauser Fan myself and have 4 or 5 if you count the Arisaka.
96 Swede 1910
96 Swede Sportzerized 1906
M48A 1952-1956 somewhere
VZ 24 1940
Arisaka 99 1942
