Starting a new 1911 project

I’m going to start a new 1911 project this evening
I thought I would let you folks have input on how it’s built

It’s a 5inch build cut for a Clark/para barrel
All input will be taken into account

Make it look like a companion to one of your AKs.

How so @Caw

Maybe get grips that are made out of AK wood and give it the same finish maybe even make it look a little worn. Also, a Kalashnikov quote or put an AK files emblem on it. Kind of like a tribute to the AK.

If it was me building it and it was a “blank canvas” with complete freedom, I would do something I have not done before in addition to some things that I have.

Is that frame aluminum?

Yes it’s alumimun
And I’m think this ones goinf to get a undercut and blued
I still haven’t had the cash to buy the reverse crowning tool but this is in the plans as well

I thought about this as well
Honestly I have so many grips that I’ve been straying away from this idea
But it lurks in the back of the brain
And unfortunately akf isn’t what it used to be
There too many newb trolls and want to be somebody’s that I haven’t been there in a long time
@Mel64D can attest to this.
It sad I learned so much from there I’m sad it is like wading through a pile of shit to get what your looking for

I like that as well
I need to get better at my finishing skills
Me thinks

They always put too much engraving on there pistols

But if you working on a budget like most of is
Springfield is one of the best budget minded pistol
Not high end
But solid

In all seriousness I love the 1911. Owned a bunch of them over the years…a well built 1911 is literally the best shooting .45 in the world imho. With that being said, I also love Glock’s, but for a different reason altogether.

I know it’s not something that would work with your current project, but one I think would be very cool is a very modern version of the original 1911…something that might look like a battlefield pickup from WWII, but with a completely top flight performance setup on the inside, and some subtle details on the outside (undercut triggerguard, more modern sights etc.)

Don’t know if that idea appeals to you…but to me, that would be the ultimate cool 1911
