Okay, first of all, we’re officially Idaho homeowners! Yay! So we like it here. A LOT. Hearing all these guys talk about how they never lock their doors. Seeing classic cars with the windows rolled down parked outside restaurants and all, you get the feeling there’s not much crime. Everyone is really nice even after they learn where we’re from.
But to top it off, there was what happened today. We are going to spend our first night in the house tonight, so we needed a few things. Nothing in Bonner’s Ferry, so we had to go all the way into Sandpoint to the Walmart. So we go, and I go in to get some necessities, and in the whole process I left my wallet in the cart. I didn’t know it though for several hours. We had gone back to the house and spent the whole afternoon with the previous homeowner going over stuff and walking the property. So we get ready to go to dinner and I realize I don’t have my wallet. Finally realized I had left it at Walmart. So I call them and sure enough, it’s there. But I’m thinking, great, the wallet is there but no way the money is still there. It had about $1500 in it. But we got there and the wallet and all the money, credit cards, everything was in it. I tried to get the name and contact information for the person that turned it in so I could reward them. Turned out it was an employee and they can’t take rewards. They wouldn’t even tell me their name.
If this was California, I’d be up all night cancelling credit cards.
Glad you got your wallet and cash back. What a horrible feeling that is knowing you left your wallet in the basket. I’ve done that. Luckily it was just my cell in a case with a credit card and ID. By the time I got back to the store, the basket had already been taken from the parking lot and returned to the cart area in the store. I looked through the baskets and found it. The phone case is gray and the baskets were gray and I guess no one saw it as it was camouflaged perfectly. Phew!
Awe shucks, you’re making me blush. Twas I that found your wallet. PM me for an address you can send the reward.
In all seriousness, glad things worked out so well all around. Sounds like your new home was a great decision that will provide some much needed relief to what CA has put you through.
Congratulations! It’s nice up there, when my parents finally had enough of comifornia we moved up around the Sandpoint area, many years ago… Someday I’d like to move back!
We’re from California. Kind of the scarlet letter here. But once we talk to folks they warm up pretty fast. They just have their guards up about libs. Pretty easy to see we ain’t that.
