I have one in 38Spl. Nice gun. Mine is the Colt pattern not Remington. Taylor does a good job.

I have shot 158gr semi jacked hollow point self defense ammo with no problems. If I had target ammo I would shoot that but all I have is a big can of the 158’s right now.
Just not willing to pay what they want for 38’s right now and haven’t loaded any target rounds lately.

They are all crap, and the Pietta I have functions very well after dumping a hun into it.
The 44 roundball flies at a little over 1000fps, hard to do that with a 38sp, darn impossible for a 44-40.

All these third world production guns are a pain until you tune them.
Ill take my six 44s to a 5 shot conversion any day.

Bet ya I can reload mine as fast as you can pull the pin, remove the cylinder, remove the spent carts and replace them, then put the barrel back on. PS I use paper cartridges, and a capper.

A lot of civil war vets carried the muzzle loader handguns even after the 1873 Colt came out. Colt made them all the way to 1872.

Just get a Colt SAA, 45 Colt beats 44-40 hands down. Unless your Lucas McCain.
