My problem with movies and tv is them showing flipping the cylinder closed.
I have seen nice revolvers with bent cranes because of flipping the cylinder closed.

It is akin to single loading an auto …IMO

Yeah lots of those weapons I am guessing were in the 44-40 caliber . With average fps of 950-1050fps. And sound barrier is The speed of sound is about 768 miles per hour. So it is entirely possible.
That a sonic boom could be heard.

Speed of sound crack is at 1125fps. Main reason some 9mm is sub and some is not. I cant push my 45 to crack, fat boys just cant run that fast.
I get just over 1000fps, which is still sub.
