You young guys take note...

Lately I’ve been noticing more and more folks I knew and knew of who are dying or are deceased. No names need to be mentioned, but as I age I see it more and more. I suppose it’s good for myself, the wife and my close friends, but to see folks I knew and respected die off sorta sux. I also never heard of this before but I can’t be the first person to walk on the planet to have experienced it. It’s just not discussed near as I can figure. But death is part of life, maybe it needs to be discussed?

You older gents, do you understand what I mean?

Yeah, had my sister go a while back and she was younger than me Seems like we were kids not that long ago.

I totally know what you’re taking about. We’ve had several people pass too soon and we recently learned of a guy we knew from work who passed. He was the same age as me.

Mortality is frequently on my mind. I don’t feel as old as I am but that’s just the feeling. My body is well aware of its age.

We can be taken any time. I personally feel thats why its very important to treat & live each day as your last on earth, it very well may be. (Responsibly-within reason)

Um… I don’t have enough ammo to live like that.

I specify “Within reason” :rofl:

When I look back I can remember people that were my same age at the time dieing. When I was younger it was mostly car accidents or ods. As we got older cancer and a few other things started kicking in . Now it is mostly age related . The point is we see death our whole lives it just seems to hit more often the older we get.

And for this cause should men shun religion or seek wisdom of it?

Ecclesiastes 3 King James Version (KJV)

3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

Several of the guys I used to hang out with have passed for one reason or another. One was cancer and three were drugs and destructive life styles.

I hear you 100%
When you begin to realize that you’ve already outlived a bunch of former schoolmates, and you’re seeing celebrities that you basically grew up watching dropping off one by one, you begin to feel like pretty soon you are going to be the last one standing (so it seems).
Now, throw in how young the thirty-something’s look, combined with the loss of common sense in general and the loss of our liberties and once great nation and it really hits home.

Someone once said that you know you’re really getting old when no one around you understands your references.

For example, I threw this one out the other day and I found out really quick how old I am getting:

“I know nothing! ——-Nothing!!!”

(And for the record…I ain’t that old!)

Dont need to be older to get it. My dad died right in front of me at 14 years old. I sat thier and literally watched the life leave his eyes as body finally gave up its fight with his illness. Also had my aunt burn to death, lost my grand parents, lost a newborn with my ex, lost a really close friend, seen death a few other times too. Life is a bitch but its a bitter sweet gift. You learn to appreciate it not with age but through experience.

Yeah it does…I have very fond memories of an America that literally no longer exists aside from in my heart.

Every day I wake up, I now feel like I’m living in someone else’s acid trip.

Left there and drove by an old bar, it had a sign with new owners, I thought back on my bar days, the fights, busted glass, someone always f*ckin someone somehow,

My cronies all got their sentences decades ago, locked up, lowered 6’ or faded away

I couldn’t wait to get older
I couldn’t wait till I got taller
I couldn’t wait till I was a teenager
I couldn’t wait till I could drive
I couldn’t wait till I could drink
I couldn’t wait till I could buy a house
I couldn’t wait to get married
I couldn’t wait till the divorce
Maybe I should have waited
I dread another funeral
I wonder how much shorter I will get
I wish birthdays would not come so fast
I really dislike driving
I’m not a drinker
I wonder if I should downsize the house
I still think about marriage
I remember the divorce
I think we will just keep the relationship the way it is.

I remember the good old days, and the good old times. I sure miss them.
