I shot my first 1911 in 1966, then a few years later and until the Army got rid of them in the 80s.
8 years ago a friend bought 3 45s, none where 1911s. I shot the first to and went blah. Then I did a 3 inch 5 shot group @ 50 yards with a Sig P220. Its now the only handgun here. I was thinking of building a 1911 for old times sake, but it would never be carried or shot.
Sorry guys, I have been corrupted by the dark side.
